Grief is not Forever

A near-death experience can change your life forever. You know this. It's a part of our culture. The mind goes straight to the woman who's pulled just in time from a burning car wreck, or to the man whose life is saved by a heroic medical team. They told his family he might not wake up from the operation... but there he is, sitting up in bed and asking for a sandwich.

But there's another kind of near-death experience, and this other kind is much more likely to happen to you. The death of a partner, a child, a parent, a best friend... they can all be life-changing too, and so can the death of anyone else you were close to.

That's what happened to me. It happened very suddenly, and it was only afterwards that I realised there was no road map.

How was I supposed to feel?

How was I meant to talk about it?

What was I supposed to do next?

These were the first among many, many questions. In the end, I found my own answers. But I've decided I would have liked a bit more help with the process, and this book is my attempt to give that to others.

The book is finished. I'm currently looking for representation for Grief is not Forever.
